Summary
The de facto leader and face of the Warriors of Light, Surkukteni can't sit still even if her life depends on it. Ever since she was a preteen, she's always been on the move: from one place to the next, never content to linger. Born on the Steppe in the Borlaaq tribe, she eventually ran to make a name for herself: going from Isari, to living in Kugane for a decade, before finding herself in Eorzea as a wandering Adventurer. Wanderlust guides her, curiosity pushes her to places she shouldn't go; and power is her goal.Well, at least is was. Having grown up belittled and doubted by her peers and people who should've helped raise her, Surkukteni mistook agency for power: if she's untouchable, then who's going to question her? Hold her back? Deny her from opportunities that others have? If she's powerful enough, then there will be no barriers that can hold her back. This misunderstanding of her desires - a quest for agency mistaken for a powergrab - has bitten her in the ass countless times, and surely would've continued to had she not mellowed out by trauma after repeat trauma. While she may now understand what it was she actually sought, it still doesn't stop her from securing her place as the godsdamned Warrior of Light now that she has those she cares about and those she wants to keep safe. Gods take pity on the damned fool who touches her friends or family, for not even the Twelve can spare you the gruesome fate you earned.Surkukteni's career as the Warrior of Light has been in some parts feeling deeply used - seen only for her usefulness as a weapon, a tool - and many parts political advocate. She deeply cares for the Eorzean tribes and their fair treatment, she's been a long time advocate and ally of the Ala Mhigan Resistance, and much of the story of A Realm Reborn deviates because of this. Most notably: she helped broker an allegiance between the tribes of Zanr'ak (beyond the Brotherhood of Ash) and Little Ala Mhigo so that they might have the manpower to remove Ul'dah's presence from Southern Thanalan and create an independent region free of the Immortal Flames and Brass Blades. Which means yes, Ilberd is an ally of hers and that story does play out differently (including the sparing of his death).Fates spared the cruel whims of Destiny and Death is a running theme for her. Surkukteni's Echo has a strange ability that lets her see who is going to die in that moment, the forces that pull them towards it, and the ability to act on it - should her will exceed the force of Fate, that is. The first person she saved was Foulques, lying about his death to Ywain so that he might escape the Shroud and seek refuge elsewhere. Next was Moenbryda, and her actions in Southern Thanalan allowed Ilberd to be spared the same fate. But all of this was unconscious, unaware that she had such an ability until Papalymo's death: something she saw, yet could do nothing about. Her first attempt at trying to save someone resulted in failure with Conrad, yet her second attempt succeeded with Yotsuyu. Unbeknownst to her, she'd also allowed Ysayle to survive, learning of this in 5.3 in a teary, emotional reunion. Later, she would save Venat so that the protector of Etheirys may get to know the world she so diligently protected more intimately in its current form. Of course, it's not always successful - Ahewann's death still stings - but Surkukteni tries her damndest at every opportunity.Most folks who come across her do not realize that she is the Warrior of Light. They often assume that she carries herself in some noble fashion, or much like her old persona: a valiant heroine cloaked in ivory with a ruby red spear and a go-getter attitude. Yet the Warrior would change to a dour woman dressed in blacks, to wraith-like armor as she took up the mantle of a Dark Knight. Grievous injuries from Nidhogg, Faunehm, and Zenos thrice-fold forced her to retire from a job she loved and to assume the role of a dark protector, and it's one she takes pride in now. These days, you'll see her in dark plate armor with ornate weapons that glow a vicious sanguine red, the main being Woeborn, a Bozjan relic recreated by her little sister, Altan. It and Dreizack mean a great deal to her, and are her main weapons these days, cherishing them dearly and taking better care of them than she does herself.Not helping the dark image she presents, Surkukteni went down the path of demonology thanks to her interest in the 5th Astral Era and War of the Magi. While she has summoned several demons for the sake of experimentation and companionship (the hellhound, Sétanta, being one example), the most notable summoning she's performed was that of Diarmuid Ua Duibhne before Endwalker, forming a pact with this ancient Voidsent so that she might have the power needed for the harrowing journey ahead of her. Diarmuid has proven to be a valuable - if not difficult - ally and informant, but importantly saved Surkukteni's life at the end of Ultima Thule. Were it not for his selfless sacrifice, she'd not be alive. But as a result, the two have partly fused - leaving him stuck on this Source with Surkukteni as a vessel, and her half Voidsent. As troublesome as the unknown consequences could be, she's at least been having fun with what she can now do.The agreement Surkukteni entered to wield Diarmuid's powers was that she would put her all into restoring the Thirteenth, something that already aligns with her work with Cylva and Unukalhai - a pretty light request, all things considered. Part of this may have to do with the vague comments he makes about knowing her from another life, but she doesn't even know where to begin with any of that. With the world ending crisis averted and herself healed, she can now devote her attention to the Void and its restoration...if Golbez doesn't ruin everything first, and they can figure out who it is that keeps stalking them since the excursion at Troia.
Class Details
Main ClassesDRG: Dragoon is the class that shaped Surkukteni's image as a Warrior of Light, and it's one that holds a lot of meaning to her. Her base skills with a lance were honed initially under her Captain, but she soon found herself butting heads with Ywain and the Lancer's guild - unwilling to listen to him and viewing him as backwards and old fashioned. When Ishgard reached out for candidates for Dragoon training, Ywain sent two: Lillith (the actual candidate), and Surkukteni (someone he hoped would wisen up when subjugated to the rigorous training).
Unfortunately for Ywain, Alberic took an immediate liking to Surkukteni's stubborn nature and how her already loose form lended greatly to what was required as a Dragoon. Both Surkukteni and Lillith were trained officially as Dragoons, but only Surkukteni would be chosen by the Eye to become one of Azure. "The Dragoon Cloaked in Ivory" became synonymous with the de facto leader of the Warriors of Light and it would be something Surkukteni carried with her through her journeys.
Until she was near-mortally wounded by Nidhogg.
During the final fight with the fell dragon, Surkukteni's side was split open by Nidhogg with Estinien's spear. From there, she'd only accumulate other wounds in her attempt to regain her abilities. As dear as this class is to her, it's one she can no longer practice to the same capabilities. She's slowly getting it back, but she's afraid she'll never lose the limp or the sharp pain that spikes through her every time she overexerts herself. She's not given up, but it still hurts regardless.
Her current abilities are fused with ice magic, of all things, and bleeds in dark magic from her time as a Dark Knight and now as a Reaper. Her form's gotten sturdier with time - a bit more vicious - and it's led to her being a tankier dragoon that combines her martial skill with that of a Monk, thanks to W'khittri. Before ARRSurkukteni epitomizes wanderlust, and has been wayward since she was a child. Born to the Borlaaq tribe, silence characterized much of her childhood. Up until she was 11 summers old, she was mute and despondent. No one in the tribe understood why this was and resigned to the fact she'd have to be taken care of for the rest of her life, leading to her differential treatment - snide words behind her back because they assumed she couldn't understand, not even attempting to reach out, etc. Even her own mother - a former Malaguld - struggled to understand why she was so unresponsive. But when she was 11, something snapped. Surkukteni spoke clearly and concisely - and gods, did she have an attitude. She loathed how she was looked down on and belittled - how her mother coddled her even as she sought her own agency! - and realized one thing: if she could prove herself powerful enough, she could prove herself worthy of respect. Driven by a desire to grow stronger and the realization she had a brother that her mother abandoned, anger and an insatiable drive saw Surkukteni leaving the Steppe at 11 - a wayward Borlaaq that managed to make it to Isari.She didn't stay in Isari for very long. It was just long enough to get enough money to pay the tithe to cross the Ruby Sea, while also learning bits of Doman and Hingan along the way. She'd heard of Kugane from the people of Isari and the merchants that'd come to Reunion...so why not see it for herself? It was there that she found herself in the employment of Kitase Sekiguchi, a crotchety old Raen, a Doman refugee, and the captain of the Atsushi Maru - a trading vessel under the Fujimori Mercantile. This man gave Surkukteni her last name and effectively became her father in the decade or so that she was employed by him. Yes, it allowed her to earn a living and widen her worldview significantly, but it was never enough. While Kitase had trained her with a spear - as that had been his preferred weapon prior to the injury that crippled him - it was more for protection than power. Soon - too - did Kugane become inadequate.Worst of all, it became traumatizing. When Surkukteni was sixteen, she fell in love with the wrong girl: Misaki Fujimori, the adoptive daughter of the president of Fujimori Mercantile, Toshiaki Fujimori, and heir apparent of the company. There was much that Surkukteni didn't understand about relationships, compared to the large amount of experience Misaki had under her belt - being Surkukteni's senior by a few years. This led to years of psychological and financial abuse that wore down Surkukteni's confidence and self image, becoming fully dependent on a woman who wanted to own her. When Surkukteni was in her twenties, she began to finally see what was wrong and began her escape, going a bit further than was likely necessary: all the way to Eorzea. She saved what money she could (stashing it away from Misaki), until she could afford passage to Aldenard. And so, when she was twenty-four, Surkukteni quit her job at the Fujimori Mercantile, and made her way to Gridania.
A Realm RebornSurkukteni was already proficient with a lance, thanks to her captain, thus the Lancer's Guild was a natural fit; though it quickly proved to drive her crazy. Surkukteni wanted to wander without restrictions, yet found herself in a hostile nation that loathed anyone not from the Shroud, and she was no exception. Her name stood out, how she fought stood out, her only clothes (initially) stood out; the only options she saw were to either blend in, or further her goal: to stand out as an unfuckable force that no one would second guess her.No surprise that the forest nation's xenophobic ways just fueled her down her original goal.Surkukteni spent this time under the guise of a Hyuran glamour gifted to her by her captain, and obtained with the help of Carvallain de Gorgagne, a friend of Kitase's. Even if she began in Gridania, she still had an ally in the leader of the Krakens should things go awry. While she was treated coldly for being a foreign adventurer, at least folks assumed her a Highlander and not au ra. Stories of the Orl tribe's slaughter at the hands of Gridania's close ally were an ever present reminder when speaking to either Captain she grew up around. That, and she didn't feel like being a rich bastard's arm accessory yet again so that they may be seen with the rare Xaela that left the Steppe.Starting out as a lone adventurer was tough, but nothing that deterred Surkukteni. She knew she'd need allies, but only found one in Mother Miounne initially. Ywain angered her, Foulques was bullheaded - who was she to turn to? Well, the woman who actually looked out for her...but she'd need others. And not being familiar with Aldenard made that difficult.Luckily for Surkukteni - and almost as if Fate had planned it this way - she crossed paths with one Gwendoline de Lacroix. Well - more appropriately - Gwendoline invaded her life and space, offering her something she couldn't decline: a job. Here was a Gridanian noblewoman, asking Surkukteni to be the brawn to her brains and help her with her research projects as a Conjurer. As many warning bells as it was sounding off in Surkukteni's head, she knew she had to take it; she needed the gil, for starters, and this could be a good opportunity to make a good impression on the locals if she had a noble ally as a companion. So, thinking it within her best interests, she accepted the job....From a necromancer seeking an alibi and scapegoat to place the blame of her crimes on.Gwendoline's intentions were not noble ones when she hired Surkukteni, seeking someone she could easily blame should she be caught by the Wood Wailers. This became quickly apparent when facing undead monstrosities and watching them crumble and borderline revere the Conjurer, her true nature being revealed through her bizarre magic. The nature of the game was revealed: she did need brawns, but she also needed an alibi. And to cross her would mean arrest, or to become her undead thrall. Surkukteni was stuck - yet again - as a rich bitch's plaything.At least this one was honest. Even if she was manipulating Surkukteni, she never openly lied after being found out: she was honest, intelligent, curious, and deeply sarcastic. Loath as she was to admit it, Surkukteni found herself warming up to this bitch, against her better judgement. They worked well together - even if it went from weathering Gwendoline's snide criticism to bickering back and forth in combat - and both had a deep curiosity in similar fields, surprisingly. But at the core of it, what surprised Surkukteni was that Gwendoline wasn't actually a terrible person: much of her snide, snooty ways were like Surkukteni's own prickly armor to keep people at bay to see if they were worth keeping around. For in reality, Gwendoline was a deeply caring individual who studied necromancy as a means of expanding on her own Conjury so that she might better help the underground clinics she worked at - treating those the Conjurer's Guild and the Elementals deemed unworthy of succor. For Gwendoline, she found herself surprised by Surkukteni's own scholarly interests in the 5th Era and the War of the Magi: sharing research on demonology and magical theory as the two slowly became friends and allies.

Before ARRKrystsyng Keimrachwyn has long been a mysterious force in Sharlayan. One of the youngest Hands of the forum - admitted when she 'd barely seen twenty summers - she's spent most of her life following their orders to the letter. She has her life outside of it, yes; but hers is a life charted from birth - a family business, if you will. Courier to silencer, she's fulfilled many a request without so much as a bat of an eye - why bother? It's a good gig and that's all she cares about.The job has its benefits. While not an archon herself, she's all the qualifications to be one and then some thanks to the resources afforded her as one trusted by the Forum. While she is an Astrologian by trade - letting her moves be guided by fate and whatever readings she takes during morning tea - she's been trained as a specialist, to be as flexible a mage as they require. To this degree, she's granted access to knowledge and job stones otherwise deemed too dangerous or illegal should the job require it. Her jobs take her across Hydaelyn, but with the Seventh Calamity, she's remained in Sharlayan much longer than she normally would. Krystsyng was granted leave to Eorzea for the first time in over five years. The reason: Sharlayan astromancy was illegally being spread to those in Eorzea against the Forum's will. She's not the only agent to seek the rogue Astrologians, but she was the only one to remain. Despite the mission being called off, she was ordered to remain and recover the wayward job stone. They'd assumed Mace Byrde to be the perpetrator, but his granddaughter - Leveva - had led them astray and taught an Eorzean Sharlayan astromancy. Krystsyng was to track down Leveva and her student at all costs - but who might that be?Shadowbringers
Krystyng got a lead. A call to arms was put out by the vaunted Warriors of Light, requesting additional medical support in fighting the Ruby Weapon. So - posing as an adventurer, as is her wont - she joined the Warriors of Light in aiding them in their plight to stop the advance of the Ruby Weapon. If anyone knew where the rogue Astrologian was, it had to be them. While there, she discovered that several Sharlayan runaways were working with these meddlers...and that her target might be among those assembled. How cagey this group was pointed towards her being correct, so she'd try and hang around as long as possible - even following them all the way to Zadnor.Unfortunately, the extra help was dismissed. There was no need for her her any longer after the Diamond Weapon was laid low. As she tried to figure out how to best monitor this party - a confusing woman with the ability to warp fate, a Student of Baldesion, a necromancer, and a gleaner's daughter, to name a few - she found herself approached with a job offer. A haughty Hingan elite required aid in tracking down her ex, who matched the description of one of Krystsyng's targets. Figuring it advantageous, she allied herself with one Misaki Fujimori - a bratty woman, if there ever was one.But the two hunt together: for Krystsyng never leaves a job unfinished.
Class Details
AST: Krystsyng's go-to class. She's trained in this her whole life, letting the stars guide her path and day-to-day. It might seem a bit silly to those who don't know her, but it's worked for her thus far. She's a talented Astrologian, a keen eye for what might come, and has taught herself every possible form of the magic. It's reliable, and that's why she likes it.SGE: While Krystsyng may rarely be a Sage, she's far more potent as it than as an Astrologian. She's a natural at noulith manipulation, and her scarce usage of the class is less preference and more Forum clearance. It's a powerful job stone they don't lend out often, so she makes careful use of it when granted leave of it. If she's traded her globe for a set of wings, run.BLM: Much like Sage, Krystsyng only uses this class when granted leave. It's one of the many job stones of the Fifth Era that the Forum has under tight lock and key to prevent abuse, and only allow their most proficient Hands access to. Naturally, Krystsyng is one such wielder of the job stone. She rarely uses Black Magic to not draw attention to herself, and only brings it out when she's absolutely certain she can remain discreet and no witnesses remain.

Misaki Fujimori: Misaki is...an employer, of sorts. She approached Krystsyng with a job offer - whatever money could buy her for her healing in exchange - but her attitude became a quick point of annoyance. The girl clearly had grown up getting everything she'd ever wanted, and this quest for her ex was likely the first time she'd been so resoundly denied. No sympathy for her, of course; Misaki seems to have a script she follows to try and get people to follow her every beck and call that Krystsyng recognized and shut down barely into their arrangement. Their respective steadfastness has earned a sense of respect between the two, leading to a fairly workable partnership.

Krystsyng is a stern woman first and foremost - she speaks with a suave tone, but you'll find her one of the most unmoving and dedicated-to-a-cause women you'll ever meet. She's steadfast in her beliefs and her job, very little able to shake it.
Cockiness often slips through. She's very self assured, a good negotiator and a damn good liar. She really is the kind of woman to call you a "sweetheart" in a tone dripping with condescension, cupping your chin with a wry smile painted on her lips.
Off the job, she's a lot more calm. A bit flirty, more likely to pick someone up than anything. An intellect at heart, she's fine with this job and good at compartmentalizing because it means access to knowledge she'd not normally have as she didn't much feel like becoming an archon - too much to study, what would she even pick for her thesis?
She's quick to cut the bullshit, quick to call you out on it, and she's not one to let people push her around. She has a job she follows it, and you're not apart of it so don't make yourself out to be more important than you truly are to her.

He commands a more humanoid form, yet remains deeply daemonic as a hulking figure to stand contrast to his usual form - where he is usually an emaciated skeletal wyrm, this is a harrowing daemonic knight yet something is off. He's bulky, but his proportions are off; he appears to be in armor, but it's scales and chitin. If anything, he looks like nothing of the shards - mayhap some creature from another reality? He's unique in that sense, as one of the first voidsent. He has a vague idea of what he once looked like, but he remembers himself as more emaciated than he was. The mortal form he conjures is lanky and bony, but the mortal himself was bulky in a functional sense - little definition, but still looked as if he could break you. Broad shoulders, broad chest - he was built like a manual laborer, and that helped him greatly in his role as a Memoriate.
